Recorded and released by the Melvins with a lot of special guests in 2000 on Ipecac Records, the label run by former Faith No More singer Mike Patton. Bliss Blood appears as the vocalist on "the man with the laughing hand is dead," a lengthy slo-mo death dirge. The rest of the album is a bizarre collection of covers and originals by the Melvins and guests like Foetus, Mike Patton, Hank Williams III, Leif Garrett (!!!), and more. Note that current Moonlighters member Henry Bogdan appears playing steel guitar on the two tracks with Hank Williams III ("Ramblin' Man" and "Okie From Muskogee"). This album is well worth owning, and not just for Bliss' appearance. This CD is the third of a trilogy whose first parts include THE MAGGOT and THE BOOTLICKER.
NOTES:
"The Man With The Laughing Hand":
Written by Buzz and Bliss
Bliss Blood: vocals, Wurlitzer treated vocal, electric sitar, musical saws, and Sr. Wences samples
Kevin: Bass
Dale: Drums
Buzz: Guitar
Recorded by Kurt Wolf at Mad Cow Studios, N.Y.
LINER NOTES:
"Bliss Blood: We've admired Bliss since the Pain Teens. We gave her an eleven-minute death march. She treated it with a bowed saw orchestra, ran the vocals through a Wurlitzer and voila, a very scary tour de force."
