The dissonance engine begins to accelerate toward full-throttle. Eight bizarre-sounding slices of slow creeping doom and wildly experimental guitar sounds, in an unholy mix of psychedelic black metal, mechanized trance, and blinding noise. Expect the unexpected. Also expect it to be real loud.
PERSONNEL:
RKF -- guitars, efx, serial killer vox
Teresa Mau -- wooly bully bass
Doktor Omega -- beats of eternal crippling doom
NOTES:
Recorded to KORG D1600 16-track at moon unit three in austin, tejas over approximately six long, distracted, totally insane weeks from the beginning of September, 2002 into October. Piano on track 3 courtesy of John Gavanti, recorded at a secret location in Buda, Texas.
Alas, this album was eventually remixed from the ground up and submitted to Crucial Blast, only to be withdrawn and reworked as CHINESE GIRLS HAVE THE BEST ASSES, where four of these songs appear, completely remixed (with the exception of "last exit to the coming of the white").
TRACKS:
tight sweater (a million miles away)
chinese box
050902
last exit to the coming of the white
the shape of sound
the thief of persuasion
chief broom (the tension mounts)
and the hammer will smash the cross
NOTES:
T01: You know those invisible people at the fringes of society (and high school in particular) who eventually go on to commit some spectacular crime like using their classmates for target practice? This is the kind of thing they think about, i suspect. You just know the guy in this song never got to go to the prom, right?
T02: One of the oldest songs in the autocanon finally gets recorded properly. I'm still not sure it's right, but that's okay -- "I am finished with this song now." (obscure UNHOLYDEATHMACHINE in-joke, so sorry)
T03: I have nothing to say about this song.
T04: This, more than any other song, is probably the distilled essence of Autodidact. If you're only going to hear one autotune in your life, it should be this one.
T05: This is (loosely) inspired by an actual event, the particulars of which can be found here.
T06: Another old tune gets re-recorded for "better" fidelity and all that.
T07: I really like ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST.
T08: More evidence of what happens when blackmetal falls into the wrong hands. The song is about certain specific events and persons in the early days of Norgwegian black metal, among other things. And yes, it's supposed to be catchy, although whether that's actually the end result is open to interpretation.
