Moon Unit One was a pretty primitive affair: the equipment consisted of one drone-o-caster, a Yamaha 4-track mixer/recorder (now in the possession of the bassist for the always-fabulous Austin Lounge Lizards), a cheesy 15-watt Fender Sidekick amp, a 25-watt Gorilla amp, a beyond-primitive drum machine, and extremely "basic" ideas about recording. Everything up through TRANSITION I is pretty lo-fi, to say the least. After that, clarity begins to rise (sorta) from the sonic mung.

VERSION ONE: The ultra-rare, super-limited, shitty-sounding origin of Autodidact. Released in February, 1995 in a laughably limited run of perhaps a dozen, if that many. Includes two tracks otherwise unreleased and the original version of "disrupted servomotor." All tracks recorded January/February 1995 on a rented Tascam Porta-4. Unlike subsequent Monotremata releases, this was released as a C-90.
